The Petzl Rack is a variable friction descender that allows the friction within the device to be varied when the device is under load to adapt to changing conditions eg. less friction when there is alot of rope weight at the start of the descent and more friction towards the end as the rope weight decreases. This is possible as you can vary the number of bars engaged on the rope at any time to gain the correct level of friction you require. Good distribution of friction and heat helps preserve the life of your rope. Another helpfull feature of this devices is that as the rope runs through the device in a straight line it does not twist your rope.

To be used on single ropes 9-13 mm or double ropes 8-11 mm
